After a panoramic boat trip through the spectacular scenery of the Westfjords and the whale-rich waters of Ísafjarðurdjúp, you will be welcomed to the arctic paradise of Vigur by the island's experienced tour guides.

The guides will introduce you to the island's history, which dates back to the original settlement of Iceland, and the unique Icelandic tradition of harvesting eider down, before taking a stroll to the bird colonies and the best places to approach the eider down.

Vigur is home to more than 45 different bird species and is also called Bird Island or Puffin Island by some. From mid-April to early August, 100,000 puffins, 10,000 eider ducks, Europe's largest colony of guillemen and more arctic terns live here than anyone can count.
The route of the hike across the island depends on bird activity, breeding season and time available, but is always accompanied by informative insights from our nature guides.

There is also a chance to spot seals romping on the beaches at low tide, and there are excellent whale watching opportunities from the shore.

The tour takes you to Vigur Café and Post Shop, where you'll enjoy free homemade rhubarb cake and have time to send a postcard from Europe's smallest post office before taking the boat back to Ísafjörður.
